Mobile Marketing – a Guide for senior marketers

May 29, 2014 by Mark Baines Category: Marketing

A 2013 study by Adobe and the Guardian Media Network (US and UK) highlighted that 8 out of 10 senior marketers don’t feel comfortable with their skill sets of using mobile marketing correctly and adequately.

This is really bad news! How can you call yourself a ‘marketer’ if you can’t get the best out of the most powerful tool in your armoury? How can you steer your company to success if you don’t understand what you have at your disposal?

After all, mobiles are what your competitors are using and probably all your customers have one in their pocket! It doesn’t matter if you’re in consumer or B2B marketing, your customers/clients are all looking at their mobiles, regularly, including evenings and weekends.

It would be easy to say ‘come to me and I’ll tell you all about it’. But really, that shouldn’t be necessary.

Yet at least half the marketers I meet don’t rate it as being ‘worthy’ of a place in their marketing mix. I’m glad to say that after a short chat with me they usually change their viewpoint.

But that’s not the point. A marketer should know what’s in their toolbox. It’s their job.

Sometimes, I despair.
