Marcom’s chronicle
In Marcom’s early years – the 1990s – we positioned ourselves as a ‘creative’ agency: our value proposition, expressed in our positioning statement, was ‘Creative Marketing Communications’ followed several years later by ‘Creativity in Marketing Communications’.
The organisations with whom we dealt – mostly in technology, engineering and professional services – wanted creativity, which they could only get from an agency. They wanted to stand out in the market by demonstrating their competitive advantages and their benefits in a way that attracted and excited customers.
And it worked: the more creative our work, the more leads they got and the greater their reputation. Counter-intuitive, you might think, but a vital insight to how business was conducted in those days.

In the 2000s we took it one step further with ‘Brand New Ideas’, which offered competitive advantage through branding and exciting creative concepts. Client businesses loved it, so we forged a reputation as one of the leading creative agencies in B2B.

Our more recent positioning as ‘Your Marketing Department’ reflected our clients’ requests for Marcom to support them in all areas of marketing. A recognition that Marcom is a full-service agency populated by deep specialists who are ready to serve every aspect of marketing.
..and now

From this, our move today to ‘Your Strategic Growth Agency’ was inevitable, because ‘growth’ is the outcome of marketing. It was only a matter of time before our clients made it clear that they wanted us to deliver ‘growth’, not just marketing. And the graphic language is one of moving parts, transparently working together to form a harmonious whole.
Our mantra at Marcom is (and always has been) to lead with insight-based strategy, then assess its effectiveness continually by analysing its performance, which is visible in the stats. We make ourselves accountable to our clients for these, with an attention to detail that leaves most marketers amazed. It’s not for nothing that we only employ deep specialists in their craft.
